What is a Media Wall?
A Media Wall is a specially built wall in your home that can house (and hide, if necessary) your audio, video, gaming and any other media equipment, whilst being aesthetically pleasing and looking as though it’s always been part of the room.
They can be minimalistic and subtle, or bold stand out feature walls. All of our Media Walls are bespoke and designed to align with our clients vision. Media wall designs are often categorised into Chimney Breast Media Walls or Shelving and Storage Media Walls.
Chimney Breast Media Walls
A Chimney Breast Media Wall is often slightly larger than the width of your TV. It can include an Electric Fire, Sound Bar and Smart Lighting behind the TV. The structure of the Chimney Breast forms the perfect cavity for running and managing cables, resulting in a clean, cable free finish.
Although they contain less elements to our larger bespoke Media Walls, there are still many ways in which you can personalise to get a bespoke finish. From fire installation variants, mantels, paint colour and other unique finishes. The Home Cinema Interiors team will have as many conversations as you require to ensure you are completely happy with your design before we begin.
Our Media Wall designs are bespoke and built depending on the customers’ needs and desires. They look best when they echo the architecture and décor of the home; they can then add character to an interior, reduce clutter and make the walls appear thicker resulting in a sense of solidity and permanence. They even become a selling feature if one day you decided to move home.
Shelving and Storage Media Walls
Shelving and Storage Media Walls usually start at around 3 metres in width and can be as large as the wall space you have on offer.
The shelving in our Media Walls can be in the form of built cubes, floating shelves or glass shelves. We often incorporate alcoves into our larger wall which are perfect for shelving, log stores, pendent lights, artwork and more. We’ve even had external windows featured within our larger walls. The built cube form is perfect for installation of downlights, allowing each shelving area to be lit using smart light bulbs and technology, giving control over the strength of light and colour at your fingertips.
Storage has become a sought after element for many of our clients, drawers and cupboards within Media Walls provide the perfect solution for all the living room necessities that are required close by, but not necessarily on show.
The larger size of these Media Walls also lend themselves well for the incorporation of interior design finishes, such as slat panelling, wood or stone worktops, tile or brick effect, variable paint finishes, mirrors and more!

Our Media Walls installations include...
Building of the structure
The Media Wall begins with a wooden frame. A bespoke build depending on the size and features of the Media Wall.
Installation of concealed cabling
The cable and electrical installation and management begins at this stage. Media Walls create the perfect cavities and space for concealed cables.
Boarding and plastering
The Media Wall is then boarded and plastered. At this point it begins to seamlessly become part of the room.
Painting
We can match the paint on your Media Wall to the rest of the room, or alternatively paint the whole room.
Lighting
We offer a range of lighting options including back lit screens, ceiling lighting and shelving lighting - all can be incorporated into your Media Wall. We also specialise in smart lighting systems.
Shelving
As each Media Wall design is bespoke, we can incorporate surrounding shelves, cupboards and drawers depending on your needs and how you imagine the finished look.
Sound bar installation/ceiling mounted speakers
Sound bars and speakers are an important part of any AV installation, and quality sound is an integral part of our Media Walls.
Inset electric fire installation
You don’t need to choose between TV or fireplace to anchor your living rooms. Beautiful inset electric fireplaces can really bring the wow factor.
The process in pictures
Stage 1 – We design and build the frame for the Media wall, install plasterboard, install and connect electric fire and any storage units. Always a bespoke design and size, suited to requirements. As well as the desired aesthetics of the Media Wall, it is built with the space for cable management and concealment. 
Stage 2 – Plastering. All our Media Walls are given a 2/3 day dry time before we return to finish. 
Stage 3 – The Media Wall is painted ready for the completion of the cable management, lighting and all other finishes - including mounting the TV, sound bar and any other AV equipment. From start to finish a Media Wall will take approximately 8 days (which in inclusive of the plaster dry time).
